Our challenge is to row 8 Million Metres for cancer charities, namely MacMillan and Cancer Support Scotland (Tak Tent) on a Concept 2 indoor rowing machine at our local Greens Health and Fitness Centre Finneston Glasgow.

We have a strong team of 8 members who will each row 1 Million Metres, to raise as much money as possible for these two outstanding cancer charities.

The challenge commenced on January 9th 2012. Each rower will be rowing between 15 and 20,000m every day, 6 days per week for a total of 10–12 weeks, until we reach our target of 8 Million Metres.

This is a physically demanding and gruelling challenge. 8 Million Metres is the equivalent of rowing across the Atlantic Ocean from Glasgow to San Francisco!

Why cancer charities? We are all affected by cancer. We all have loved ones, friends or acquaintances affected. The lives of 1 in 3 people are affected by cancer.

These two charities do amazing work to help ease the pain and suffering of those people affected by cancer. They provide financial and emotional support to help improve their lives.
